The story
Down to the garden.
The family had a dark, low garden level they never used. We lowered the floor, extended the rear wall and opened it to the yard with a wide run of glass.
Underpinning and drainage were designed first. Once the structure and the waterproofing were in, the room went up quickly.
Materials
Glazing: thermally broken steel-look aluminum doors
Floor: wide-plank white oak over radiant heat
Ceiling: exposed original beams, cleaned and sealed
